The Hand Center
Hand and Wrist
Fractures, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and trauma that causes nerve damage, are all common injuries and disorders of the hand and wrist. Because nearly every activity requires the use of our hands, these afflictions can keep us from performing even the most basic tasks at home, work or play. The fingers, hand and wrist contain 27 bones, plus tendons and muscles to connect them. The complexity of how they work together can make them more prone to injuries. At the Hand Center, our team has extensive experience evaluating and treating both minor and complex conditions. Through non-surgical and surgical treatment options, they help patients overcome pain and debilitation. The team of surgeons and Physician Assistants (PAs) enable patients to return to work, perform routine chores again and resume the activities they love.
The Hand Center also specializes in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of acute and chronic elbow conditions. Common injuries or diseases result from repetitive motion or excessive stress on the joint. Activities such as repetitive motions on the job or during sports, can cause pain, swelling and damage to the joints. Our team always considers non-surgical treatments first but, if necessary, will perform surgery using the most advanced and least invasive procedures.
Wide-awake, no local anesthesia, no tourniquet (WALANT) surgeries
The Hand Center team also specializes in the state-of-the-art WALANT surgery. General anesthesia is not used, so patients are not sedated. Patients stay awake for their surgery and there is no pain from a tourniquet. This translates to a lower-cost surgery for patients, faster recovery and an overall better experience.
