Physiatry (PM&R) and Pain Medicine
The Northern Arizona Orthopaedics Spine and Pain Center is a nationally accredited laboratory with Exemplary Status from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).
PM&R, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is a sub-specialty within the Spine and Pain Center. Here, the goal is to decrease pain and enhance performance, without surgery. The team treats a wide range of painful nerve and muscle conditions, impairments and disorders for their patients. They take time to accurately pinpoint the source of an ailment, often by performing an EMG test – then determine a treatment plan. Care usually incorporates multiple medical therapies to enhance and restore function and quality of life back to the patient. Treatment and therapies center around each patient’s lifestyle and specific needs.
Doctors in this area of medicine are referred to as Physiatrists and specialize in interventional, non-surgical care, returning patients to a level of comfort and mobility they deserve. John Ledington, M.D. is a long-standing Flagstaff local who is passionate about providing non-surgical comfort, function and pain relief care to his community.
Included on his team are Stephen Randazzo, FNP and Michelle Boyer, PA-C. Together, they enhance and restore functional ability and quality-of-life to those with pain, physical impairments or disabilities. The team practices with compassion and empathy; they have an understanding of the discomfort patients are experiencing. The PM&R team work side-by-side with the team of orthopaedic spine surgeons in the Spine and Pain Center. Patients receive the best of all specialties, often within the scope of a single visit to the Center.
