Dr. Knecht is the only board certified orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon in Northern Arizona. Highly regarded as one of the best, Dr. Knecht has additional, specialized training in foot and ankle disorders. These may include problems of the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, nerves, and skin. He uses medical, physical and rehabilitative methods, as well as surgery, to treat patients of all ages and walks of life – from world-class athletes and developmentally disabled children, to your neighbor next door.
Working in tandem with Dr. Knecht is physician assistant Mary Anne Persons, PA-C. Mary Anne, a licensed medical provider, is highly skilled in the foot and ankle field of medicine. She has had extensive training and experience in how to examine, diagnose, prescribe medications, treat and assist in surgery. Together, the two providers form a team that seeks to not only treat, but also personalize the care experience at the Foot and Ankle Center.

With two fellowships, Dr. Knecht specializes in the evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle problems and musculoskeletal trauma. Dr. Knecht joined Northern Arizona Orthopaedics in 2004 upon completion of his fellowships in Foot and Ankle, as well as Orthopaedic Trauma.
In their free time, he and his wife, Kristi, enjoy mountain biking, surfing, skiing, hiking and exploring the backcountry of Northern Arizona and Colorado. They are also both actively involved in annual orthopaedic mission trips to Central America, treating lower leg deformities, and hip and knee arthritis in areas of need.
